The Dayan TengYun M is a nice surprise from Dayan. If you’re looking for a discrete cube that can be used in the classroom then this is for you. This is an incredibly quiet cube with a unique feeling to it. Instead of the rough clicky feeling, this cube feels very soft, almost as if you would put butter in the cube. Otherwise this is a well-performing and fast magnetic speedcube with slightly weaker magnets.
Dayan is back in the game once again! If you’ve cubed for a long time then you likely know of Dayan’s history. Back in the day the Dayan Zhanchi cube was used by everyone and was used to set World records all around the world. However with the years, Dayan has disappeared behind the shadows of the colossal companies Moyu, Qiyi and GAN. With the Dayan TengYun M, we can safely say that Dayan is back in the game once again with this excellent speedcube.
The TengYun M performs at level with modern speedcubes when it comes to corner cutting, corner twists and speed. Additionally, it has a very unique feeling to it which sticks out from the rest of the cubes, and brings something new to the table.
One disadvantage with this cube is the way they assemble the cube at the factory. The tensions are quite loose out of the box. Also it has often been lubricated with too much silicone, so be ready to wipe it off with some paper or cloth before using it. Adjusting the cube is easily done by removing the center pieces and tightening the screws – if you feel like the cube is too loose.
Included with the cube are alternative springs if you wish to try a different elasticity. The magnets in the cube are towards the weaker side of the spectrum and doesn’t pull the layers too much, this can be either a pro or a con based on your own preference.
