GAN Smart Timer
The timer does not need to be connected to a cube or to the app to be used. It works completely by itself if you prefer to use it that way. When the timer is connected via bluetooth, it automatically saves your times in the app and gives you statistics. This works with any type of cube.
Usage: Start the timer by pressing the power button. Place your hands on the touch pads. The reset-button in the middle lights up with a blue light when the timer is ready. When your hands leave the pads, the timer starts counting. Solve the cube, place it on the table and place your hands on the touchpads again to stop the timer. Press the reset button in the middle to save your time and get the timer ready for a new solve. Your last five times are saved in the timer’s memory, scroll through them by pressing the scroll button on the right. Finally your AO5, (Average of 5, the average of your last five times) is displayed. Restart the timer to reset the memory.
About the timer: GAN Smart Timer has a precision down to a thousandth of a second, which is what we usually see in modern speedcubing timers. The pads for putting your hands on have a smooth, slightly matte surface that is comfortable to the touch. Around the entire timer is an LED strip that emits a blue light when you put your hands on the timer, which gives a cool effect and signals that the timer is ready without you having to look directly at it.
There is a cavity under each touch pad, these are for attaching the timer to a mat. Unfortunately these cavities are not of the same types we usually see on timers, and thus the timer can not be attached to Yuxin Stackmats or SpeedStacks-mats. Instead you’ll need GAN’s own mats which have the appropriate mounts.
GAN has chosen to give this timer two battery compartments, one under each touchpad. This makes the timer balanced, so that it is stable on the table and feels the same under both hands. The disadvantage is of course that you need four batteries instead of two (which is the standard), but at least four batteries will last longer. The timer is powered by AAA batteries, not included.
An instruction manual with clear illustrations and instructions in English is included. The timer also has a 2.5mm socket to connect it to an external display, but such a cable is not included.
