The timer is sturdy in its construction and yet quite light, which is nice when you’re hauling the whole cube collection and you don’t want it to be too heavy. It has five anti-slip rubber feet which helps the timer stay in place on the table during intense speedsolving.
YJ Timer has four buttons:
- On/Off: Turns the timer on or off.
- Reset: Resets the display to 0.000 and the timer is ready for timing a new solve.
- Cycle: Cycle through your saved times. Is also used to cycle through save slots when saving times.
- Save: Opens the menu for saving your result in one of the three available memory slots. Cycle through the slots with the cycle button. Long press save again to save your result in the selected memory slot.
There is also a 2.5 mm port to connect the timer to an external display or a computer. 2.5 mm cable is not included.
The timer is powered by two AAA batteries, not included.
To use the timer: Place the timer in front of you, and place your cube in front of the timer. Press the On/Off button to activate the display. If your latest time is still on the display, press the Reset button to ready the timer for a new solve. Place your hands on the two sensors. When the timer has detected your hands, the red top indicator lights up. When the timer is ready to time your solve, the green bottom indicator lights up. The timer starts counting when you lift your hands to pick up the cube. When you’ve solved the cube, put the cube down and place your hands back on the sensors. The timer will stop counting and you can see your result on the display. You can now save the result with the Save button, or you can reset the timer to time a new solve with the Reset-button.
