The ShengShou Gigaminx V2 is a Megaminx with an extra layer on each side. This puzzle will definitely impress your friends with its 372 “stickers”. The ShengShou Gigaminx V2 now comes in stickerless and has received an upgraded mechanism compared to its predecessor. This means that it has unexpectedly good turning quality and it is easy to turn despite the friction between all its pieces. Also, the puzzle is surprisingly affordable for its size. Gigaminx (difficulty and solution)
The puzzle may look quite intimidating, but the solution is actually not as difficult as you might think. It’s definitely a challenge, but if you have some cubes in your collection that you can already solve, you’ll probably manage this one. A Gigaminx is basically a 5×5 version of a Megaminx. So if you can already solve a Megaminx and a regular 5×5, you can actually manage to solve this without a guide. However, it doesn’t work exactly the same as a Megaminx and 5×5, so you’ll probably have play around a bit before you manage to solve this and it will be a perfect challenge for those of you looking for something a little more difficult.
ShengShou Gigaminx V2
This isn’t the first Gigaminx on the market, but the previous versions haven’t performed as well, so this is a welcome upgrade. The puzzle can be twisted without any problems when you take it out of the box. The puzzle doesn’t lock up very much and it can even corner cut a bit. The mechanism is clever and the puzzle does not pop either.

This cube came out of the box very slippery. I had to wipe it for a while to get it to a decent state. Turning is slow, and it simply won't corner cut. It has at times taken me 5 seconds to make a single move, and that gets tiring. I'm aware this is an advanced cube, but this feels unreasonable. The sides are also difficult to grip, making it easy to fall or slip out of your hands. I can use it, so it's not impossible to use, but it feels less than acceptable. Nonetheless, if you get over the headaches, the puzzle is a fun solve.

If you are used to the performance from speedcubes like the YJ YuHu or the Dayan Pro Megaminx with reverse corner-cutting and magentization, the alignment can be a bit frustrating sometimes. Considering the price though the turning itself is fast and smooth so it's a good deal to try the Gigaminx and have in your collection. If you are looking for a slick and more comfortable solving experience I recommend the Diansheng.
