The Dayan Tengyun V3 3×3 M comes in a compact and sleek white box. Inside is a smart storage box with a sliding lid, as well as a box with accessories. This in turn contains the changeable components used to adjust how tight the puzzle should be screwed. In addition, there are tools for adjusting spring and magnet strength, a manual and solution guide, a cube bag and two extra logos.
To adjust the magnet strength, you can use the included flat screwdriver. Unlike some other cubes with adjustable magnet strength, you only need to adjust once on one side of each of the eight corner pieces. Not only is this faster than the equivalent system with adjustment on each side of the twelve edge pieces (24 adjustments), but it also eliminates the risk of the setting being accidentally changed while turning the cube. The factory default is the strongest of the five settings, which provides a suitable (but not overwhelming) magnet strength.
Furthermore, you can adjust how tight your Dayan Tengyun V3 3×3 M should be screwed with the help of the colored components that belong under the six center caps. The white components are pre-installed, and provide a neutral strength. By switching to the orange extra components, the strength decreases, while the green ones increase the strength. To switch the components already installed, gently press them down into place, and rotate 90 degrees clockwise. To put a component back, first fit the two pins in so that they match the transparent plastic pin in the center of the center piece. Then gently press down the component and rotate 90 degrees counterclockwise instead, until the component falls into place.
Finally, you can easily adjust the spring strength with the included transparent tool. Just fit the large opening around the construction in the center of the center piece and turn a step counterclockwise. There are four levels, where the spring strength increases for each step you turn counterclockwise. After passing level four, the setting returns to level one, with a slightly louder click. The fastest setting (1, with the lowest spring strength) is pre-installed, but perhaps you prefer the slightly more controllable fast settings 2, 3 or 4 better?
