MoYu WeiLong WR M V9 3×3
MoYu WeiLong WR M V9 3×3 feels at the time of writing (2023) like the ultimate speedcube. The cube combines the technology, feel and quality that MoYu has become known for with its latest releases, for example the MoYu WeiLong WR M 2021, the MoYu Super RS3M and the MoYu HuaMeng YS3M. Plus, the feel and performance is reminiscent of many of GAN’s recent popular releases, but at a fraction of the price. Regardless of which one of the variants below you choose, you will thus receive a modern and high-quality speedcube designed to lower your personal records.
Standard variant
Naturally, this variant comes with the classic edge-to-corner magnets that have become standard on all flagship level speedcubes in recent years. The cube doesn’t come with the repelling ring magnets that create frictionless suspension in the two slightly more expensive models, but don’t despair. The cube is naturally and already straight out of the box incredibly fast. If you don’t like excessively fast (and potentially difficult to control) speedcubes, this variant may actually be the perfect choice for you.
MagLev
MagLev means that the usual suspension with metal springs has been replaced with two repelling ring magnets. One magnet thus levitates over the other magnet and provides a springy effect, which means that you avoid the friction between springs and washers and the cube becomes both faster and quieter. In addition, it minimizes the risk of encountering the annoying squeaking sounds that can occur between springs and metal in a speedcube without a MagLev system. For the relatively short step up in price compared to the Standard variant, this will perhaps be the perfect version for those of you who want a really fast and good speedcube, but without breaking the bank.
MoYu WeiLong WR M V9 3×3 (Ball-Core UV)
The third version has what MoYu calls a Ball-core. There is a ball around the core where they attached eight magnets facing the corner pieces. At the bottom of the corner pieces there are also magnets aligned with the magnets in the core. This provides two different functions. First, the cube gets a slightly stronger magnetic feel. Then, the cube also becomes a bit more stable. This is the same system used in e.g. the GAN 11, 12 and 13.
Compared to the MoYu Super RS3M and the MoYu HuaMeng YS3M however, the Ball-Core UV version also comes with repelling edge magnets attached under all edge pieces. These magnets repel the core’s eight magnets, thus causing the cube to automatically strive to settle into the correct position every time you pass a half-completed move. In addition to providing a stronger magnetic feel, it will also help the cube’s ability to cut corners, as well as prevent lockups between moves. Of course, this variant also has the MagLev system that the slightly cheaper intermediate variant has, but here also a protective and beautiful UV coating layer on the outer parts of the plastic.
MoYu WeiLong WR M V9 3×3 (Ball-Core UV Special Edition)
Special Edition MoYu WeiLong WR M V9 is a limited edition cube that Moyu has created in collaboration with π cube. At its core, it is the same model, but the repelling magnets in the edge pieces have been removed and the MagLev in the cube have been replaced with regular springs. Inside the cube, the color has also been changed to light blue. So what does this mean for the cube? Well, MagLev makes the cube very fast and according to some – uncontrollable. With regular springs, the cube is slightly slower (still fast) and a little more stable. By removing magnets in the cube, the magnetic feeling is also dampened so that the cube is not as extreme.
Accessories
The cube comes with a cube guide, instructions, adjustment tools, a screwdriver and a transparent display box.
