Speedcubing competitions
Are you getting faster on the Rubik’s Cube? We highly recommend attending your first competition! The most common question we get is how fast you need to be to compete. The simple answer is that there is no official requirement for speed. At a competition, you’ll regularly see times up to 3 minutes. If there are time limits, you’ll easily find them on the competition page.
Why compete?
Most people at competitions are nowhere close to reaching the podium or winning a medal. Competing is a great way to push your own limits and prove yourself on a stage. But most importantly, it’s incredibly fun! Going to a competition is a fantastic way to make new friends or just talk to people who share the same hobby as you. Not to mention all the tips, tricks, and knowledge from fellow competitors, both at your level and from professionals.
Where do I find competitions?
World Cube Association
All official Rubik’s Cube competitions are run through the World Cube Association (WCA). The WCA is active all over the globe, and it’s the best way to find a local competition if you’d like to give it a shot. After competing, your results will also be posted publicly, and you can, for example, see your world ranking or local ranking. The WCA is full of fun statistics and information from competitions around the world. Check out some results here.
So where do you sign up? This is the page to find competitions. When you’ve found a fitting competition, click the link and sign up right there on the WCA page.
CubingContest
Are you interested in unofficial events? Some competitions have unofficial events such as FTO, Mirror Blocks, Kilominx, Magic, Team Blind and more. If you’d like to participate in a competition with unofficial events, you can find them at Cubingcontests.com
