Best COLL Algorithms

COLL Algorithm

COLL stands for Corners and Orientation of the Last Layer. This is a subset of algorithms for when all edges are oriented (2 Look OLL solved). By recognizing the corner case you can apply an algorithm to solve both OLL and all corners at the same time – leaving you with a EPLL case (better PLL) or a PLL skip (1/12 chance).

FAQ

The short answer is that you should learn COLL after OLL and PLL. You could start learning COLL after 2 Look OLL and 2 Look PLL if you want to combine the second and third steps of that last layer method into one, but learning full OLL and PLL first is still recommended due to added flexibility and avoiding slightly worse COLL cases.

We recommend learning all COLL cases except for the Sune and Antisune cases. The reason for this is because the Sune / Antisune OLL is so fast to perform that the time saved by doing a COLL + EPLL solution is often slower compared to just OLL + PLL in these cases. These are the best algorithms according to world class speedcuber Daniel Wallin. In short, the best algorithm is the one that is fastest to perform, not the shortest one.
