X-Man Hong 5×5 M is a magnetic 5×5 Speedcube at the highest level. X-Man delivers again with a 5×5 with the latest technologies, magnetic ball core and UV coating. The magnetic core gives the puzzle more stability and helps you keep the pieces in check when turning quickly. The cube is really fast, light and airy with a strong magnetic feel. On the surface of the puzzle you will find a thin layer of varnish that helps with the grip and makes the cube resistant to scratches. More below.

If you like X-Man’s previous products (e.g. Tornado 3×3), you will like X-Man Hong 5×5 M Ball Core UV. The cube has the classic X-Man feel with fast and airy turns. The magnetic strength is strong, especially on the inner layers. The cube is stable and cuts corners well, just as expected from a flagship. It’s been a while since we’ve seen a really good 5×5 release and we’re looking forward to seeing this cube in the hands of pros soon!
The cube comes with a cube guide, a collector’s card, a screwdriver for adjustment and a fiber cloth to clean it with.

It was really tight and dry out of the box, even though I ordered it with the lube service. After adjustment, it became quite smooth, but I don’t like that the strength of the inner and outer magnets feels the same. The Gan 562 M has stronger inner magnets, and its overall turning style suits me better, but it’s more expensive. The price tag makes it worth considering.

I'm gonna keep it real: Out of the box, this thing is pretty bad. It feels stiff and takes too much effort to turn. After setup and about 100-150 solves it began to break in and it feels pretty good now. I personally had to loosen the cube quite a bit and add a generous amount of DNM to finally get a good feel out of it. Not bad, but the Moyu Aochuang is probably a better bang for your buck.
